What is Light of Hope?
Light of Hope has been an annual non-denominational community service to highlight what is positive about parent-child relationships and to raise awareness of the needs of abused and neglected children in the greater Rochester area. The service has been a means to bring our community together to advocate for our most important resource – our children. This April event has been part of a national movement to light a symbol of hope during National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. In the past, our Light of Hope services have included reflections on child abuse and neglect issues by children, parents, community leaders, judicial officials, and religious leaders. Local choirs and instrumentalists have contributed to the services with their inspirational music. When is the next Light of Hope service?
The CASA program has decided to pursue a different venue for making the public aware of the needs of Monroe County's abused and neglected children. Consequently, no Light of Hope service is planned at this time. Light of Hope 2006 photo gallery |
